Mr. Herner

Meet one of our Physical Education and Health Teachers:

Mr. Herner began working at MTSD in 2017. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. Currently, Mr. Herner teaches Health to grades K-2 and Physical Education to grades 3-6.  

Mr. Herner is a dedicated educator and coach. He coaches at Warren Hills High School and is the Freshman Boys Basketball Coach. Mr. Herner has been fortunate to coach many of his Mansfield students throughout his time at Warren Hills. He has been a coach at Warren Hills since 2018. 

Mr. Herner grew up in Warren County. He attended Franklin Township Elementary and Warren Hills Middle & High School. He takes pride in being able to work in a community he grew up in.

If Mr. Herner is not busy coaching, he enjoys spending his free time with his wife, dog (Harper), and cat (Oliver). He also loves to support his favorite team, the Texas Longhorns.

Mrs. Mattison

Meet one of our Interventionists:

Mrs. Mattison started working at MTSD in 1998. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Binghamton University and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University at Buffalo.  Currently, Mrs. Mattison is an Intervention teacher for math and reading.  In the past, she taught first, second, and fourth grades at Mansfield Elementary and two previous schools. Mrs. Mattison loves to spend time with her family. She and her husband have three children ages 20,18, and 14. Their favorite place to vacation is the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Her favorite animal is a dog (her dog, Buster, is a personal favorite), and she has 2 cats and a bearded dragon.  Her favorite subject in school has always been MATH!

Mrs. Townsend

Meet a member of our first grade team:

Mrs. Townsend has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Teacher Certification N - 8 from Centenary College.  She started her teaching career at Mansfield Township Elementary School in September 2000 as a first grade teacher.  Mrs. Townsend enjoys teaching first grade.  She feels rewarded being part of the 1st graders' exciting transitions and fun learning experiences.  In 2020, Mrs. Townsend was awarded MTSD Educator of the Year.

Mrs. Townsend resides in Long Valley with her husband, twin daughters and 2 dalmatians.  She loves to spend time with her family and friends.  She enjoys watching her daughters play softball and dance.  In her free time, Mrs. Townsend loves to shop, garden, swim in her pool, go to the beach and watch movies and HGTV.  Her favorite color is purple and her favorite subject to teach is reading.
